Are You Proud of Your Pet? Artist Stella Violano Sends Out Call for Pet Photos for Project to Raise Funds for Animal Shelters and Rescues

New Fund Raising Project by Artist Stella Violano May Immortalize Your Pet on Canvas to help homeless pets.

(PRWEB) December 21, 2005 -- A painting a day is the latest project by award-winning artist Stella Violano, who is known for her popular paintings of homeless animals in shelters. The paintings will be painted from a group of photo submissions and will be offered for sale at online auction. One painting will be released for sale each day during the month of March 2006. A portion of funds raised from the auction of each painting will be donated to one of the shelters and Rescues that Violano supports through her work.

The artist is asking for submissions of pet photographs from the public to aid in the project. Photos should be taken by the pet owner to be considered for painting. The 31 painting subjects will be selected from the entries submitted. For those wishing to see the finished paintings there is an email signup to preview the release of the day when the project begins in March.

“Because I am not able to complete an animal portrait in a day I am asking for submissions early. This way I will be able to begin painting for this project from December through March” Violano added “I am hoping to have a wide variety of pets to paint from and will accept submissions even if the pet has passed to rainbow bridge- so long as they were loved.”

Photographs can be submitted via Email. Submitting images grants the artist the right to paint from the photograph and reproduce the painted image. For more information please see the artist’s website.

About the Artist: Between painting gallery work and commissions Professional Artist Stella Violano creates paintings using homeless pets as the models. Information about the homeless pet model is featured on the auction of the original painting in order to try and find a home for the pet among the art collectors viewing Violanos popular paintings.

When the painting sells Violano donates a portion of the funds to the rescue or shelter that houses the animal she has painted. The March Portrait Project will again be a tool to raise funds and awareness of the needs of homeless pets.

“I prefer to paint the hard to place pets, the older ones or the ones with disabilities” Violano clarifies “And many of the pets I have painted have found wonderful homes.”
