Austin Peay fundraising campaign nets nearly $40 million
CLARKSVILLE - A five-year capital campaign for Austin Peay State University raised nearly $40 million, more than doubling the goal of $15 million.
Former president Sherry Hoppe announced Monday the "Changing Minds, Changing Lives" campaign raised $39.4 million from more than 400 individuals, businesses and community groups.
The funds are earmarked for academic scholarships, athletics, equipment and land and facilities development.
Hoppe said consultants first suggested a more modest goal, like $5 million, but she knew the Clarksville and alumni communities could do more.
